You may have guessed that I’m talking about is our good friend, Kegels. The challenge is that hardly anyone does them correctly!
Women in a program such as The MARI Method have a distinct advantage. Here, we learn to isolate our abdominal muscles with Yometrics. However, I’m about to demonstrate how you, too, can isolate your abdominals for Kegels.
First, a little clarification is in order. Fat “stomach” really means your fat “gut”. Your gut being the lower abdominal area – that area below your navel.
Normally, when a person attempts to do Kegels, they end up sucking in their stomach instead of their abdomen. Sometimes, a person begins by sucking in their abdomen, then, before they know it, the muscles being sucked in shift to their stomach.
When performed correctly, Kegels will flatten the muscles in your abdomen and also strengthen your genitourinary muscles. (This is what enhances your sex life for you and your partner.).
Start out by standing tall, feet slightly apart. Next lift through your core and place your hands on your abdomen – fingers spread.
Now, thinking about your lower abdomen, squeeze those muscles! Bending forward ever so slightly, continue to pull in on your gut, using your fingers to make sure the muscles are contracting. As you bend forward, you should stay focued on your abdomen, squeezing it in even tighter. Hold while you count to 15. For best results, repeat this exercise 2 to 3 times throughout the day.
Over time, you’ll want to increase the time you hold the contraction to at least 30 seconds. While holding the contraction, you should continue to breathe normally. When a woman does Kegels as instructed here, she will begin noticing a flatter stomach and tighter abs within just a few weeks.
