Want to Burn Belly Fat? There's More Than Vanity At Stake!

Belly fat is not only ugly – it’s also deadly. So, learning how to burn belly fat and get rid of your tummy fat needs to be your top priority.

Excess belly fat may be a sign that you’ve become insulin resistant, developing what is known as metabolic syndrome. This means that your body is turning food into glucose much too quickly, causing high levels of sugar in your blood. Having metabolic syndrome does not necessarily mean you are diabetic. But, if you do have a fat belly, it is quite possible that you are pre-diabetic.

A good way to tell if you’re belly fat is reaching the “dangerous” zone is to measure your waist, and then compare this measurement to your height. If your waist measurement is more than 1/2 your height, you are at increased risk of diabetes, and should begin in earnest to burn belly fat.

The best way to start getting rid of your extra tummy fat is to combine a diet that is high in complex carbohydrates and protein with resistance training to build muscle.

This low sugar diet, also known as a low glycemic diet, will help your body regulate insulin levels by slowing down the rate that the complex carbohydrates in food are converted into glucose (blood sugar).

All carbohydrates are not bad. It’s just the simple, processed carbohydrates and sugars that should be avoided.

Good carbs consist of your whole vegetables and whole fruits, such as broccoli, kale, peppers, oranges, and berries. Legumes, nuts and seeds are also examples of good carbs that will aid your body in it’s ability to burn belly fat. Whole grains are also included in the list of “good carbs”. These are wholesome carbohydrates that give a slow, steady release of glucose into your bloodstream as they are processed by your body.

On the other hand, there are many “nutrient -deficient” carbs that should be avoided. These are the foods that are almost instantly converted into sugar, causing a rapid spike in blood sugar levels. And, sadly, these are prominent in many American’s diets. This includes things like sweetened beverages (even juice), ice cream, cakes, cookies and breaded foods. Another big offender is potatoes, which are quickly converted by your body into sugar once they are ingested. And, did you realize that when you eat white flour and white rice that they are converted to sugar as quickly as if you had eaten a straight spoonful of table sugar?

Our bodies do need glucose for energy and proper brain function. But we need a steady supply of this glucose. Rapid delivery from eating junk food leads to mood swings and other serious health issues such as diabetes and heart disease.

When you take steps to eliminate sugars from your diet, you body will begin to process foods as it was designed to do. You will see that is is not that difficult to burn belly fat after all.
